In 2024 Gina Montagna Venturino served as tournament organizer for Magic in the Redwoods, Humboldt County’s first ever multi-day Magic: The Gathering convention. The event was a smashing success and community feedback has led to the creation of Emerald Dragon Events.
Gina spent her formative high school and post college years working at Nugames, her family’s game stores in Arcata and Eureka. She has watched the Humboldt County gaming community grow and evolve over the years and is thrilled to bring her experience and passion for events to the area.
Gina volunteers with Kinetic Universe on the Race Committe for the Kinetic Grand Championship. In this role she serves as the Waste Management Coordinator for KGC and is lovingly known as the “Trash Rat”, following the race on Memorial Day Weekend and cleaning up after racers and spectators.
This experience has exposed her to the ins and outs of city permitting, traffic control planning, volunteer coordinating, non-profit organizing, waste reduction efforts, and more!
